Circle_the_Cat_Multi_Hill-Climb

This game is a simulation of the game 'Circle The Cat' that exists on several websites. To play, click 'run' then select the hand tool. Tap on any of the light blue circles (background) to make a 'wall' (pink circle). Each time you do this, the cat will advance toward what it calculates is its best path to the green border. If the cat reaches the border, you lose. If you completely encircle the cat with walls, you are in a winning position. To complete the win, you must completely contain the cat so that there are no surrounding blue circles. The cat will then 'surrender'! The 'wall' counter shows the total number of walls (pink circles) on the worksheet, initialized with the starting number on the worksheet. The 'move' counter shows the total number of game moves you make. To experiment with alternate game boards, use the 'simulation properties' window to set @automode to '0'. You can then place or remove walls and the cat will not respond until you use the hand tool to tap with the hand tool on the cat or change @automode to 1. Note: tapping on a background repeatedly in this construction mode will alternately add and remove a wall. Load the 'blank' worksheet to create your own game board. Tap on one of the cells with a green dot using the hand tool to reset all diffusion values to zero. Tap on a green dot cell with the shifted hand tool to force the cat to move without placing a wall. Examine diffusion values in background using the attributes window. Alter the @diff_coef simulation property to change the rate of diffusion. Set @extra_diffuse to 1 to force additional repetitions of diffusion calculation between creating a wall and the cat’s move. NOTE: The Cat can hill-climb in three modes that correspond to the @hill_climb_mode. Values 0 and 1 correspond to using the hill-climb action in 8-way and 4-way mode, respectively. If @hill_climb_mode is set to 2, a manual hill-climb method is used. The current state of the @hill_climb_mode simulation property is indicated with the hill-climb indicator agent on the bottom row of the world. You can change @hill_climb_mode by tapping with the shifted hand-tool on the Hill_Climb_Mode indicator agent. Good luck!
